Abstract

Education plays a strategic role in improving human resource (HR) competency through the development of knowledge, skills, professional attitudes, and the ability to adapt to change. This study aims to analyze the role of education in improving HR competency at SMAN 3 South Tangerang City. The study used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods and a case study approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis, then analyzed descriptively to gain a deep understanding of the implementation of education in developing HR competency. The results of the study indicate that education plays a role in improving the competency of teachers and education personnel through formal education, training, workshops, seminars, and various professional development programs. These programs can improve knowledge, skills, professionalism, work ethics, the ability to utilize technology, and the application of learning outcomes in carrying out tasks, thus impacting the quality of educational services, work effectiveness, and school organizational productivity. The study also found several challenges in implementing competency development, namely limited time, opportunities to participate in training, supporting facilities and infrastructure, and demands for adaptation to technological developments. However, these challenges can be overcome through school support, the implementation of ongoing training, equal opportunities for competency development, and the commitment of teachers and education personnel to continue learning. Thus, education remains the main factor in forming human resources that are competent, professional, adaptive, and able to face changes in the work environment.
