Abstract

This research is motivated by the low interest and learning outcomes of students in learning Indonesian, especially in the intrinsic elements material which is still dominated by conventional methods and the lack of use of interesting learning media. This study aims to develop and test the effectiveness of digital flipbook media based on the folktale of the Miracle Baby: Princess Junjung Buih from South Kalimantan in improving the learning outcomes of elementary school students. The method used is Research & Development (R&D) with the stages of needs analysis, design, development, expert validation, and testing using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of this study were 20 fifth-grade elementary school students. The results showed that the developed media was declared valid and feasible to use. In addition, there was a significant increase in learning outcomes, as indicated by an increase in the average score of 65 from the pretest to 82.5 in the posttest, as well as an increase in learning completeness from 5% to 100%. Thus, folklore-based flipbook media is proven to be effective in improving student understanding, engagement, and learning outcomes. This research contributes as an alternative innovative learning media based on local wisdom.
