Abstract

Children's literature is an effective medium for instilling multicultural values in elementary school students. This article aims to analyze the role of children's literature as a medium for fostering multicultural values, identify the multicultural values embedded within it, and describe strategies for its implementation in elementary school learning. This study employed a literature review method by analyzing various relevant books and scholarly articles. The findings indicate that children's literature embodies values of tolerance, empathy, respect for diversity, equality, social justice, cooperation, and inclusiveness. Its implementation can be carried out through the selection of multicultural children's literature, interactive reading activities, reflective discussions, collaborative learning, the use of digital media, and culturally responsive teaching. Therefore, children's literature not only supports literacy development but also serves as an effective medium for shaping students' character by fostering respect for diversity.
